A Half-Hearted G’Day to 2021

———————————–BREAKING NEWS———————————————

So, the 2021 we hoped for is taking a little time to get here for most of the eastern seaboard states.

With post-Christmas Covid-19 breakouts in Sydney, closing the board between Victoria and NSW and now the threat of a lockdown in Queensland with greater Brisbane going into a 3-day lock-down it seems very little has changed.

As it stands, on the 8th January 2020, while Victorian’s can enter New South Wales if need by but they won’t be allowed back into Victoria without a permit. And permits can take some time to be issued, and won’t be issued to people who don’t have a good reason to be in NSW. Our advice would be, stay out of NSW until border restrictions are lifted.  If you are stranded in NSW permits can be applied for here https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/travel-restrictions-new-south-wales.

As for travelers currently holidaying in the Greater Brisbane region, you will go into lockdown from 6 pm tonight for three days following a single case of a particularly aggressive strain of COVID-19 from the UK was discovered in a cleaner working in a hotel set aside for quarantining international guests.

The Brisbane list of lockdown requirements includes you to stay home unless you need to shop for essentials, need medical supplies, provide care or assistance to an immediate family member, exercise with no more than one other person. Other rules regarding weddings, custody arrangements, and funerals can be found here: https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/greater-brisbane-lockdown

Let’s hope, with everyone doing the right thing, restrictions can be lifted very soon. We should all heed the rules that have been put in place, wear our masks, social distance, and wash our hands regularly.

Let’s kick this thing in the preverbal and hopefully we will all be traveling freely soon.
