Mansfield – A Must See

When venturing into the Victorian High Country you will no doubt pass through the beautiful, bustling town of Mansfield. This town plays host to many a skier during the winter and as a thriving tourism destination, the summer months are filled with people enjoying the beautiful surrounds of mountain forest and stunning scenery.

The wide tree-lined boulevard of Mansfield is a local shopping mecca. There are numerous treasures to discover amongst the local commercial strip. It will keep you browsing for ages.

Only 25 kilometres away from Mansfield is Lake Nillahcootie, a man-made lake built in 1968 on the Broken River for irrigation. Visitors to the lake enjoy attractive picnic grounds, BBQs and a boat ramp, making the lake suitable for fishing, swimming and boating activities.

And of course, Mansfield is where notorious bush ranger Ned Kelly was declared an outlaw when he failed to present himself to the local court back in the 1800s. Unfortunately, we were just passing through Mansfield on our way to higher points so we could put the caravans we had with us to the test.

RAM – MAKING LIFE EASIER

Because we tow vans of all shapes and sizes on our trips, we are fortunate enough to have at our disposal a few RAM Trucks. This makes towing a breeze. Tackling the large climbs ahead of us is a far less daunting task with the RAMs and if you watch the video on these pages you will hear what our resident journalist/vehicle/caravan tester John “Bear” Willis has to say about them.

But whether you’re towing a van, exploring this region or just on a Sunday drive, a stop in at Mansfield is a definite treat.
