No Need To Shout At The Whispering Wall

Remember when you were a kid and you made a telephone using two cans and a long piece of string? Well the Whispering Wall is a massive version of that – only better (and different, using a completely different scientific theory).

Built between 1899 and 1903 the Whispering Wall has a unique acoustic phenomenon. Words whispered at one end of the wall can be clearly heard at the other end, more than 100 metres away – as I said, just like the cans on the string but only much better.

This is fascinating and a great deal of fun. It is a great place to spend the day with a picnic area and public facilities available.
