Actor Harley Bonner and designer/founder & influencer Natalie Roser share a special journey ahead of the birth of their first child at their favourite place: Hat Head on the mid-north NSW Coast.

Some places become part of your life without trying. For us, that place is Hat Head.

Every January, we make the trip–same campground, same stretch of coast, same creek at high tide each morning. And every year, it gives us exactly what we need.

This time, the trip carried a little more weight. Nat was 35 weeks pregnant with our first, and the comfort of a proper setup made all the difference. Thanks to Jayco Newcastle, who generously loaned us a Jayco camper van, we travelled in ease and arrived ready to settle straight in. No tents, no fuss, just space to move, breathe, and rest.

Moorland Scones

We drove four hours north, breaking the trip as we always do with scones in Moorland, a quiet tradition that marks the shift into holiday mode.

Pulling into Hat Head feels familiar in the best way. There’s no big fanfare. Just the steady rhythm of what we know: the creek full and glassy each morning, cool and clear before the sun gets high. Kangaroo families grazing nearby like they’ve always been there. Long afternoons under soft skies, slow walks, simple meals, and the kind of quiet that soaks in deeper than you expect.

Campground Bliss

One morning we watched the sun rise over the headland, casting a soft glow across the campground. Just another small piece of the place that keeps calling us back.

We laughed, thinking about next year–how different it will be with a nearly one-year-old crawling (or running) through the sand. But this year, we had space. We knew how much it mattered, and we made the most of it.
