Don’t mention Jugiong!

Shhhh! It’s a secret.

The village of Jugiong is just south of Yass along the Hume Highway and as such is a centrally located spot to stop over on the journey from Melbourne to Sydney.

The many caravaners who stop at Jugiong are usually ‘overnighters’ but some stay longer to enjoy the town, the river, and the surrounding countryside. The sporting oval has become a free-camp, and as it is supported by a toilet block and town water, it is a great location to stop and recover from a day on the road. The local Council operates and maintains the amenities and there is a box for gold coin donations to help with the upkeep of the facilities.

A great retail option in the village is the Jugiong Wine Cellar. It is a regional wine cellar providing and selling wines from southern NSW including the wine regions of Hilltops, Canberra, Gundagai, and Tumbarrumba Regional Wines. The Cellar also sells art including pieces by world-renowned artist Ken Knight, in addition, sculptures, alpaca wool garments, and local gifts.
