CELEBRATE SUMMER AT THE FRESH-LOOK PORTSEA HOTEL
The iconic Portsea Hotel is reopening its doors to the public after splashing $7 million on state-of-the-art renovations, just in time for the peak summer season.
Known for its sprawling beer garden and the only pub to be directly located on the waterfront, the Portsea Hotel is set to become the top destination this summer as Victorians flock to the region over the Christmas break.
Opening from December 10, the hotel will play host to an abundance of live music acts and events from Australian artists, and in a Portsea Hotel first, will feature morning yoga overlooking the water.
More than just a lick of paint, the renovations seek to re-establish the Portsea Village as a tourist destination for 365 days of the year, creating a mecca for families, couples, holidaymakers and tourists alike.
Upon entry, guests will be treated to a rotating art gallery featuring an evolving calendar of artists, which leads into the biggest room of the venue – known as Longshore – boasting a large open-style kitchen complete with a fresh new menu by newly appointed head-chef Paul Tyas – formerly from Grosvenor Hotel and The Point Albert Park.
Paul said the new menu is a refreshing take on the typical Australian pub meal, with a strong focus on locally sourced produce. “The new menu at Portsea Hotel gives the pub food that Australians know and love a much-needed revitalisation; expect a wider range of salads, fresh seafood and grilled meats, as well as the pub classics.”
The new wine list will feature handcrafted wines sourced from the Peninsula, including a selection from renowned local wineries T’Gallant, and Foxey’s Hang Out, with a Portsea Hotel spritz cocktail likely to be a crowd favourite.
The second floor is home to the ‘Bertram Bar’ (in honour of John Bertram) and with panoramic ocean views, is earmarked as the hottest event venue of 2019. Other newly added elements include Cliff’s Bar – a California-inspired burger bar and the RIP Bar – a whisky inspired cocktail bar to lure guests in the cooler months.
To celebrate peak-season on the much-loved Peninsula, Portsea Hotel is hosting a range of events, including the hotel’s famous Christmas Eve Eve, New Year’s Eve with Tom Tilley DJ Set and a Somersby Summer event featuring The Babe Rainbow.
