Caves and Crystals
Atherton Tablelands Holiday Park has a seven-day itinerary for those wanting to explore the area. One of the stops is The Crystal Caves.
It may look like a normal shopfront in the middle of a shopping complex but enter the work of The Crystal Caves and you’re entering into the mind of one man’s absolute passion.
Renè Boissevain and his partner Nelleke are passionate about their crystals and prehistoric fossils and have travelled the world together in search of some of the best examples of each. Even at 80 Renè hasn’t lost his passion and is always looking to add to his collection.
The Crystal Caves are a homage to Renè’s passion. There are 5 man-made chambers filled with examples of crystals and fossils, a collection that is worth millions of dollars.
You will walk and crawl from chamber to chamber as though in a real cave situation with beautiful surprises at each turn.
One of the most outstanding exhibits at The Crystal Caves is A 525kg rose quartz boulder – perfectly shaped to lie down and rest your weary body.
The self-guided tour will have you walking and crawling from one chamber to the next, discovering beautiful exhibits along the way. You can even have a go at cracking a geode in a “prehistoric lucky dip”.
There is plenty to see and do at The Crystal Caves, check out the video, Macca certainly had some fun and made a pretty good discovery.
