A TRIP ALONG THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD

Celebrated as one of the world’s great ocean drives, the 243kms of winding road from Torquay near Geelong in Victoria, to Warrnambool is a testament to the returned servicemen from WWI who were responsible for constructing it out of the bare wilderness. The first section, from Torquay to Lorne, was completed in less than three years, and a must-visit is the wonderful display of its story at the Lorne Visitor Information Centre.

The iconic Twelve Apostles are an obvious mecca for all visitors to the Great Ocean Road to see these ancient limestone wonders of nature.

Travelling further westward there are many places to stop and take in the fascinating structure that nature has made of this coastline. In the centre of all this wonder lies the small hamlet of Port Campbell, which was has a small beach and a headland walk above the town.

There’s a great deal to see and do and a week is a good length of time to give to this special part of Australia. You can find out more information about The Great Ocean Road on their website or find them on Facebook.
