In a bid to meet the needs of residents, campers, other holidaymakers and local business, the Mornington Peninsula Shire in Victoria is seeking thoughts and feedback from the community to help shape direction of its foreshore camping.

“Your views and ideas are important to help us understand the needs and expectations of all users and those impacted (or affected) by foreshore camping,” the Shire writes.

“Your input will also inform the development of a foreshore camping strategy, guidelines and action plans. Our aim is to create an equitable and sustainable roadmap for foreshore camping now and in the future.”

Participants can share their thoughts with the Shire via the short survey until August 29.

From the results, the Shire aims to ascertain five different elements impacting:

1. Demand and experience
2. Environmental sustainability and protection
3. Financial sustainability
4. Economic development and tourism
5. Other opportunities and challenges to consider
