With iconic teams like the Boss Outdoors NSW Kingfishers, Hard North NT Crocs, Reel Action QLD Brolgas, Squidgies SA Opals, G-Loomis TAS Devils, Compleat Angler VIC Seadragons, and Shimano WA Gogofish vying for supremacy, the competition promises to be fierce, unforgettable, and historic.

Reel Gauntlet: A Fishing Challenge Like No Other

Australia’s Reel Gauntlet isn’t just a competition; it’s an odyssey that will reignite and redefine your fishing focus. From December to June, state teams will engage in exhilarating monthly fixtures, with the victorious team earning two championship points. A rotating bye system ensures that every state records at an automatic win during the season, while its team anglers continue to bolster their Best & Fairest points tally.

As the general season unfolds, the seventh-placed state team faces elimination, while individual competitors continue to vie for that prestigious State Best & Fairest Award. July brings the Qualifying Round, followed by Quarter Finals in August, Semis in September, Preliminary Finals in October, and the Grand Final in November. The state that emerges victorious will etch their name in angling history as the Champion State Team.

Be a Part of the Movement: Empower Women in Fishing

The Women’s Recreational Fishing League Inc. (WRFL) is dedicated to achieving gender participation parity in recreational fishing by 2050. To fast-track success in this, they’ve created this exciting new concept, bringing their favourite sport into a new arena. But how does the Reel Gauntlet work towards their goal?

With only fifty slated competitor spots available for state per month, it might seem difficult to find advantages to leverage… except that the scoring app employed by the Reel Gauntlet is the same already in use with the WRFL ongoing social comps, designed to inspire League members to fish more competitively. So, here’s the kicker: Competing

Members of the WRFL record all captures into their own competitions, and those points automatically tip into the state coffers, boosting their state points! And there is no cap on the number of WRFL competing members per state. So, to leverage greater points for their state, Gauntlet competitors can encourage more women to join the WRFL and participate in the ongoing League Championship, thereby contributing their fishing points to their home state’s score.

There’s no limit to the number of participating WRFL members per team, so let’s empower more women to embrace the fishing revolution.
