How to Avoid Being Laughing Stock!
We’ve all sat in caravan parks and watched as newbies try to back their van into a tight spot. We chuckle to ourselves and correct them in our minds but hey, we were all newbies once. I remember wanting to head to the airport after trying to park a van once with my husband at the wheel.
Graham and Jenny are smart, they’re going to avoid that first time embarrassment. How? Driver’s training, that’s how. These days we have all the safety equipment in the world attached to our cars and vans but unless we truly know what we’re doing, that stuff is useless.
Cove Training offer all sorts of job-specific training but one of their courses is right up our alley, the Caravan Towing Course. It offers things such as:
- How to prepare a vehicle for towing
- How to prepare a trailer/caravan for towing
- Loads and loading
- Trip planning
- Vehicle safety checks
- Safe loading and restraint principles including coupling and uncoupling trailers
- Road lawspecific to towing
- Safe towing techniques
- Safe straight and offset reversing
The skills you will learn are invaluable and you won’t be the laughing stock of the other guests at any caravan park.
Note: Cove Training are based in Melbourne but there are similar companies throughout Australia running worthwhile courses.
Macca Puts Himself to the Test
While Graham and Jen finish packing their van, Macca seizes the opportunity to test his skills, reversing a big rig semi-trailer. How do you reckon he went?
Oh, and keep your eyes out at the end of the segment for how professional our team can be – or not.
