Community-minded caravanner Anne Westbury recognised in the Senior of the Year awards

No doubt about it. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our communities, enriching our urban and rural regions, often enabling the very experiences caravanners know and love.

And with seniors forming more than a quarter of all volunteers in this country, the Council on the Ageing (COTA) Victoria feels strongly that these efforts ought to be recognised.

Somerville resident Anne Westbury is one such vital volunteer who received a Certificate of Recognition from the State government for her commitment to volunteering work.

Participants in the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards programme must be nominated by peers in order to qualify for recognition, appreciation or an award.

While presenting the certificate to her our local The Hon MP, Paul Mercurio said:-

“I’m pleased to give recognition to Anne Westbury for the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards, Anne has done incredible work volunteering for multiple groups like the Caravan Club, Girl Guides and Caravan Lawn Bowls just to name a few.

“Selfless dedication to helping the community where she can and it’s awesome to see recognition being given.

“Congratulations Anne, good on you.”

This outstanding award programme really shines a light on the ways seniors contribute to our community–giving the broader community a brilliant opportunity to extend a thank-you for their wisdom, perspective and time.
