CARAVAN OWNERS FACEBOOK GROUPS – November 2022
Owners Group News, Compiled by Alison Huth, Editor at Large alison@whatsupdownunder.com.au
New to Caravanning? Do you have questions to ask? If your brand of caravan is featured in our Owners Group News, why not apply to join. This is all about Caravanners helping Caravanners.
Urban Caravan Group of Australia and NZ
Joanne asked “Can anyone tell us how to change the speaker to just play inside not outside?“
Lots of replies but the one that worked was from Ian “Try pushing big round button in till it says fade then turn left or right“
Kelly posted: “Got tired of clothes falling out of the overhead cupboards, due to sloping wall. Bought baskets, cut away the slope wall section. Fits like a glove. I still roll the clothes I put in them.”
Leader and Supreme Caravan Owners Group
Adian asked “Can someone tell me what this is? Came with the van. Thanks”
The answer was “It’s a locking clip for the tv arm.”
Crusader Caravan Owners Group of Australia
Dean posted “Another thing to slow thief’s and lower my monthly insurance payments.“
Steve posted: “New Build Tip. When I built my van I asked for hooks on the drawbar for the chains. I got resistance but I insisted. I love them and recommend to anyone building a van to ask for them.
Jayco Silverline Enthusiasts Australia
Susan asked: “Hi all, we have just purchased and collected our Silverline Outback 2019 model, there are a couple of switches look like white light switches right at the top as in photo, we cannot see what they are for and nothing in books and previous owners could not help either, just wonder if anyone else may have them?”
Malcolm replied: “On our November 2019 21.65-3, the left hand switch is the awning accessory lights as others have said. The right hand switch was a total mystery for 2 years until one evening I accidentally pressed it and found it controls the rear hatch light!!”
On the Move Caravan Owners Group:
Michael asked “A weird one for the group. We are getting ready to store our Infinity for a few months after 2 years of full time living, and now all of a sudden we have the radio coming on at random times by itself? We are not on mains power and the van has been cleaned and is relatively empty of stuff. Has anyone experienced this before?
Peter replied “Looks like the battery volts could be dropping to a level where the vans battery protector shuts the power off. The battery then recovers enough to turn back on. When this happens the radio turns on. If you take the front off the radio it doesn’t happen.”
Option RV Caravan Owners Group
The Option RV Group photo from the recent National Rally in Lightning Ridge, NSW.
Mike posted: IMO, one of the best investments we made to protect our SR19.
All the crap and corruption that would normally fall onto retracted awning is now deflected by this vinyl cover. Much easier to clean than awning.
In response to replies Mike added: this is a Jillaroo brand. You’ll need to install a sail track above the awning to secure the cover to the van. Simple enough job for practical person or van repairer.
Darren posted “Trailermate jack. 11 years old and it’s first service. It was leaking oil badly and was looking shabby. Strip, clean, repainted and put in a new seal kit and new oil. Like new again.
Cathy wrote “Went to the caravan show in Canberra today. This was the best buy of the day ”
Vicki posted “Our new home for the babies!!”
I have never seen this idea before, it’s absolutely brilliant. Alison
As I put these pages together Sunlandians from all over the country are making their way to Armidale, NSW for a national rally. There are some badly damaged roads out there, and this post is indicative of the sever damage some roads have suffered. Whoever is towing, whatever brand they have, we all share the same comment “Stay safe everyone.” Alison
Royal Flair Caravan Club Australia
Terry posted “Hi to all the fellow Flairians who were evacuated from the Nagambie Lakes CP. The flood peak has now exceeded the one in a hundred year flood level (I’m told). I have attached some pics for your interest. You can see the water level at the junction of Vickers Road and Loddings Lane (road into the CP) so we can only imagine the damage done to the park. Other pics show the lake from the town centre (board-walk totally submerged), and Kirwan’s Bridge, almost under.”
Sadly this flood meant that the annual Royal Flair Owners Group rally had to be cancelled at the last minute. Alison
Adam posted “A couple of years back I posted about bathroom storage on our 2020 Nova Metrolink… There was none…Big shout out to Zarah who posted some pics of her new Metrolink and it had storage above the mirror We contacted Nova (John) and the measurements were the same We paid the cost of the cabinet and they chucked it in the next van over to Luxury RVs in WA saving us the cost of delivery ”
Kerri posted “How do people keep their Sat king in place on this shelve we have a El Nido All ideas would be much appreciated.“
Greta replied “We have ours attached under our cupboard that holds the connections for our tv. We did it with a cradle that we bought on line from SatPlus in the Sunshine Coast in Qld with Free shipping. Hope this helps you.”
Everything Caravan and Camping
Diane posted “Been on the road with hubby for over 6 months 24/7, l think he has lost the plot and seeing things. He needed to draw legs on this bird dropping at Point Gibbon Beach SA.”
Alphabet challenge for the week is J
Sandra posted J is for Journals. I have Coeliac Disease so my journals are like travel guides with photos of food to help find safely prepared gluten free food in our country and outback towns. I share them to Coeliac FB pages to encourage others to travel away from their cities knowing there are places willing to help us eat safely.
Caravan Lawn Bowlers Club Australia
Mark posted this “Get your teams in for the Tewantin Noosa Ham Day. Good fun plenty of refreshments. See flyer for all details.”
Maybe a good idea to just double check the dates with the club!
CREATIVE NOMADS – Sewing, Crafting and Cooking throughout Oz.
Heather posted “Some have asked to see the finished quilt, here it is. It took almost 4 years to complete as we are long term travellers and I only did what I could when I had the time and power. I am thrilled with the end result, and it looks great on the bed. There are hexagons on the side you can’t see”
With the current state of flooding it is appropriate to issue this reminder.
Still more ‘bloody idiots’ are expecting emergency services staff to risk their own lives to save them after they ignored all the warnings and tried to drive through flood waters.
They should be billed for the rescue cost and insurance voided.
Stay safe and our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by these floods.
Ken Wilson Truck Friendly caravan road safety program.
I met this group when we were in a Caravan Park in Tamworth in October. They love their Mini Mokes so much that many have more than a few and all family members are encouraged to join in. This was taken at their Biennial all things Moke week away. More Moke news to come. Alison
Michele posted “Rockingham WA currently has Castaways on using recycled bits and pieces artists make the most amazing sculptures.”
Important Announcement.
Vanilla Slice Debate.
How about this one from Bingara Bakery in NSW. It scored a 9.5 out of 10 from me.
If you think you have a photo of a better one, send it to me with the details of where you got it to alison@whatsupdownunder.com.au
I just had to share this one, it’s so true. Alison
