Sleep in late Kids!

Trish asked: Does anyone have any ideas how to black these out when it’s really sunny, thanks. (She added in a reply that the kids wake up early with the early morning sunlight.)

Lots of replies and photos, most common idea was to fit a blind like this one in the ensuite.

Tricky Ratchet!

Darren posted: If your awning ‘ratchet lever’ is a bit tricky to use? Try this, and put a bend at the end. And lever it against the frame to raise the lever. No force or effort. Doesn’t interfere with looping the pull cord

By Hook and By Muffle!

Robyn posted: Placed these suction hooks on the outside of the van to hang beach towels/swimwear. Easy to remove for travelling. Also placed felt pads on the blind to stop it banging.

Crusader’s Comfort

Psat and Sue posted: Gday fellow Crusaders, We want to share our modification to our beautiful Porthos. We had the L shape seating. This is the 1st outing since the installation, we have more space and an abundance of comfort.

They do not spin as we opted not to use the heavy metal bases and preferred the fixed option so we have no worries travelling on corrugations not knowing what is going on in the van. The recliners are very comfortable and not cheap so we can watch television without an issue and get full recline. Hope this helps.

Dust Free

Karen posted: The red soil gets everywhere but none inside the caravan. Perfect seals and no vents for the dust to get in. Super pleased with the build

Sun Downer

A previous post was made about Solarscreen who make shades for skylights.

Smithy posted: I bought them for my skylight and full set for my car. So after seeing how well they worked on my car I decided to get them to make a solarshade for the front window. This is the 1st one they have made for a Silverline front window You can then close the caravan blind and have more protection from the sun.

Good news or Bad?

Phil reposted a Main Roads WA post: Travelling across the Gibb River Road has just become a little easier, thanks to work undertaken by Main Roads Kimberley Region. The notorious 17km Phillips Range section, between Galvan’s Gorge and Adcock Gorge, has now been sealed!

The crew also sealed another 3km of road between Kupungarri and the Mt Barnett airstrip. With the road to Derby largely closed each year during the wet season, this new link will provide all weather access for the local Kupungarri Community to the airstrip.

Will you go now it is sealed or avoid it? Alison

WA Fillers!

Beth posted: A good reference when planning a trip in WA.

Travelling in WA is magnificent, but there are long gaps between stops! Main Roads WA say there are 1000 rest areas to use for much needed breaks in a days drive. They suggest you

“Plan your driving breaks ahead of time, by using the rest area filter on our Travel Map https://travelmap.mainroads.wa.gov.au/” Alison

The Very Basics

Leicia posted: Our dometic cassette toilet is 13mths old, we’ve done a complete clean-up of all seals and runners and cassette, pulled it apart. And since then, the silver slide is extremely difficult to slide in and out to open/close. We’ve pulled it apart, applied Vaseline – no difference. Tried WD40 – works for a little while then back to difficult. Seal is in correctly but still the slide is very difficult to open and close. Anybody have any suggestions?

Lots of replies – mainly use silicone spray, or get some replacement parts. Alison

Stepping Safe.

Silvie posted: After seeing these on a website we decided to buy these step stabilizers.

They work really well. The legs do retract so they sit fully under the step when it is in the retracted position. Step nice and stable now

Another Mod done

Shauny posted: One more mod ticked off the list the poor old stone guard had seen better days after a couple thousand kms of dirt roads over the past 3 years.

I also shortened it up and bent it in a bit, because it was giving the tail lights on the back of  jack a hard time when I have to jack knife it getting out of predicaments.

Tip Top Sliding

Luke posted: L shaped lounge table. Always found the lounge in our Terra Sportz hard to get in and out of and not much space when you sat down. Looked at the Nuova Mapa table but didn’t need all those functions. Found a linear rail kit on eBay for $40. Easy to fit. Added end stops and a locking thumb wheel. Happy with the result
