Caravan Industry Victoria sadly informs members of the passing of Hendrickus (Rick) den Hartog, who tragically passed away on Friday, 27 June 2025.

Rick was a well-known and well-loved figure in the caravan industry, dedicating nearly four decades of his life to the craft and community of caravanning. He began his career at just 17 years of age with Tebb’s Canvas, where he worked for 38 years.

A True Gentleman

Rising through the ranks from sales to General Manager, Rick became the right-hand man and dear friend of Des Tebb. In many ways, there was no Des without Rick—their partnership helped shape one of the most respected businesses in the industry.

Rick was a true gentleman. A big man with a gentle soul, he was always kind, calm, and willing to go out of his way to help others. He carried himself with quiet integrity and compassion, earning the respect and friendship of all who met him.

A Humble Contributor

In recent years, Rick brought his wealth of experience and warmth to the team at Eco Tourer, where he continued his passion for customer service and product knowledge in caravan sales.

Rick was a dedicated and humble contributor to the industry. His legacy lives on through the many people he mentored, the friendships he built, and the standards he set.

On behalf of the entire caravanning community, we extend our sincere condolences to Rick’s family, friends, and colleagues. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever honoured.
