Latest in recreational travel displayed at the 2019 Vic Supershow
The 2019 Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow attracted over 49,000 visitors across the six days with many new firsts including the highly successful new AL-KO Innovation Hub which showcased not one but two ‘World Firsts’, being the OzXcorp Smart Caravan and the OzXcorp Gasless Recreation Platform and Centralised Energy Management System (CEMS), along with ten other new products for the caravan industry.
Over the course of the six days, visitors had the opportunity to participate in interactive towing and weight demonstrations on the new ‘Camp Ground’ which were extremely well received with high numbers attending each demonstration plus many took the opportunity to talk one-on-one with our Industry Experts who were onsite for the whole event.
Families were entertained and enthralled with presentations on ‘Pet Travelling Tips’ from Dr Katrina Warren and Lara Shannon (Pooches at Play) plus everyone was thoroughly impressed with the skills demonstrated by the WonderDogs which included one of the dog’s packing their own travel case.
As the sun set on Friday and Saturday night the event came alive with local street performers, a caricature artist capturing people’s personalities in a ‘big way’ on paper as an event memento plus you could feel the excitement in the air as everyone knew they had a chance to win one of three great prizes on each night just by being there!
With over 250 exhibitors and many new products on display there was something to suit everyone from the novice through to the experienced caravanner. And, for those purchasing a new recreational vehicle at this year’s event they received a boarding pass for their chance to win a Birdsville Big Red Bash experience worth over $5.5K.
In acknowledgement of our 65th anniversary, Caravan Industry Victoria showcased some special footage at their official opening, aptly named ‘Capturing Our Journey’ which was engaging and provided a first-hand view of the journey from our pioneers and current leaders.
Rob Lucas, Chief Executive, Caravan Industry Victoria said ‘With the introduction of named thoroughfares based on Australian roads, new precincts, more directional signage and other new initiatives the event was easier for patrons to navigate, more engaging and provided a more memorable experience for those who attended.’
‘This year’s Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow showcased more new products than ever before and this was demonstrated best with the introduction of the AL-KO Innovation Hub where visitors witness a self-drive hybrid van complete a 360 degree turn all by the control of an iPad along with other technological firsts.’
‘We had good weather throughout the event which assisted with everyone’s overall enjoyment of the event plus we had more prizes on offer tailored to different age groups and visitors – giving more people than ever a chance to win!’
For the first time since the Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow relocated to the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds we had trains operating Friday, Saturday and Sunday including extended evening hours on the Friday and Saturday. The extended train schedule, bus and tram access provided public transport options for patrons – which is always a popular mode of transport.
