Queensland Caravan Camping Show success

CAMPING INTEREST UNMATCHED FOR “DECADES”

Caravanning Queensland Trade CEO, Jason Plant, says it’s a great indication for the industry that the post-Covid surge in sales shows no signs of slowing.

“We are expecting the next 12 to 18 months to be very strong for the industry as customers collect their newly delivered vans every day,” he said.

“Hundreds of millions worth of vehicles have been sold in Queensland in the 2020/21 financial year, which means more people hitting the road to embark on domestic travel which will benefit the wider tourism industry here in Queensland and across Australia.

“It’s an exciting and unprecedented time for the industry, we haven’t seen this level of interest in caravanning and camping in decades.”

These sales and interest in the great Aussie road trip was also evidenced at the Let’s Go Queensland Caravan and Camping Supershow, where more than 40,440 people attended.

VISITOR NUMBERS REFLECT A TREND

This is the third industry event held by Caravanning Queensland since Covid restrictions began to ease in Queensland, and all events have seen an increase in attendance or are on par with 2019 figures.

Mr Plant said it wasn’t only exhibitors who had a successful show, education seminars like weight and towing proved very popular amongst show attendees.

“Our weight and towing seminars were highly attended over the four days, with ‘how to load your van’ proving to be the most popular segment, indicating travellers are putting safety top of mind when it comes to their vehicles and holidays,” he said.

“This year we also introduced an off-road towing track to show the capabilities of off-road caravanning which also proved to be a popular activity.”

Caravanning Queensland’s Let’s Go Caravan and Camping Supershow returned to the Brisbane Showgrounds from Wednesday, June 2 to Monday June 7 following a year’s hiatus due to the global Coronavirus pandemic.
