Faked drawers
Jo posted: Had a few mods done to the van.
In all the years I have been working in this industry, this is the first time I have seen the drawers turned into a cupboard but still look like drawers. Fantastic mod. Alison

Saving the spices
Lea posted: Just had 10 days off grid travelling dirt roads & tracks. The spice jars didn’t move, these holders have a really strong grip.
Where’s the battery again?
Denise posted: Hi Brains Trust, our smoke detector has started beeping at us ( not constantly). Can’t work out how to check battery etc. Anyone had this before?
James replied: Hi Dennis, the battery is going flat. You need to twist the smoke alarm of the base. However, if it’s like mine was, it is actually stuck to the ceiling with silicone.

Hook Hack
Paul posted: Top little idea works a treat! We really wanted some more external hooks but I thought we were limited due to our cladding BUT these Fusion Lock hooks (from Bunnings) installed on the angle on the external chequer plate for hanging towels etc. (we slide the little hooks off when we travel) so far we’ve travelled approx 10,000kms including plenty of harsh off-road inc the Gibb and they haven’t come off!

Frustrating Fridges
Des posted: After a frustrating afternoon trying to figure out what was wrong with the fridge we made a 6hr trip to Rocky this morning only to be told there is nothing wrong with the fridge. Apparently moisture buildup behind the touch panel created a short circuit because the heater( blue square with the squiggly line) wasn’t turned on. Thanks for all your help. Bigger Better Faster
Main Roads WA post: The New Fitzroy River Bridge will open to all traffic by the end of 2023, more than six months ahead of schedule!
Construction is progressing rapidly, with the entire bridge deck now substantively complete. Works are now underway on the deck surfacing and safety barriers, as well as road construction works on both bridge approaches.
Further details of the opening will be announced in the coming weeks.
Wotchmacallthis?
Sarah asked: Anyone know what this is? Was left with all our extra bits and pieces at handover.
Christopher replied: It fixes off to the wall and retains the TV bracket for transit. I strongly advise you don’t use this and remove the TV from the wall and store on your bed during transit.
Not Just Christmas Hack
Doug posted: Hi to all the Sunland owners that went to Maryborough, we had a great time looking at other peoples mods and attending various events. We are now looking forward to next years gathering. We finally made it back to Young NSW today, washed the van and put it away. Just thought I’d remind you how I use a string of Xmas tree lights, taped to the floor, so I have a guideline to aim for when I back into the shed, works just as well in the daytime.

Unhatched!
Linda posted: So we have a little mishap the hatch from the exhaust fan in the shower has perished does anyone know the make can’t seem to find anything on the fan to say what it is 2017 Bravo.
Answers were that the hatches are generic and available at most caravan parts dealers will have one. It’s a good idea to see if you can get one that’s UV stabilized as they do perish in the sun.
Align those Wheels
Regardless of the brand of caravan you have, your wheels need to be checked for uneven wear and have a wheel aligned done if uneven wear is showing.

About 2.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 October 2023), a B-double was travelling north on the Pacific Highway, Eungai Rail, when the driver observed a metal jockey wheel (from a caravan or trailer) on the roadway.
Unable to avoid it, the vehicle drove directly over it, causing the jockey wheel to strike and rupture the fuel tank.
The driver immediately stopped on the shoulder of the roadway and contacted emergency services as a large amount of diesel spilt from the tank. HAZMAT teams contained the spill.
Fortunately no one was injured; however, it highlights the importance of making sure that drivers towing caravans or trailers ensure jockey wheels and other items are secure at all times.
