Caravanning remains the favoured holiday option for Aussie families
Queensland’s largest caravan, camping and outdoor event, the Let’s Go Queensland Caravan and Outdoor Supershow, presented by Caravanning Queensland, saw continued strong interest for ‘vanlife’ adventures in the Sunshine State.
With a staggering number of over 39,500 people in attendance at the six-day caravan Supershow, the caravanning lifestyle is clearly thriving and continues to drive the sale of numerous recreational vehicles and products.
Notably the two strongest areas of interest and sales over the six-day event were larger sized family caravans and motorhomes.
Although the rising cost of living is exerting strain on household budgets, families are not intending to curtail their travel plans. Caravanning and camping still provides affordable holiday options, to suit all tastes and budgets.
Caravanning Queensland Trade CEO, Jason Plant, says the industry remains strong and resilient despite inflation, increasing energy costs and rising interest rates.
“With the increasing cost of living, families and retirees are finding it too expensive to travel overseas, instead they are opting to choose ‘vanlife’ as their holiday of choice,” Mr Plant said.
“It is great news for the tourism industry in Queensland and across wider Australia that caravanning continues to be the top holiday choice as last year visitors spent close to $2b which supports our economy.
“There are so many great places to explore without leaving Queensland and many camping destinations offer natural attractions and outdoor activities that are either free or low-cost,” he said.
Caravan Parks Association CEO, Michelle Weston, says the range of choices and destinations available for camping and caravanning holidays in Australia across 335 member parks have left travellers spoiled for choice.
“In recent years parks have made substantial investments in their facilities to include extraordinary accommodations options that need to be experienced to be fully appreciated.
“Whether you are looking for a relaxing beach getaway, educational journey in the outback, rustic bush camping or resort style park there is truly something for every adventurer suitable for any budget.
