Ride the Soundwave Music Festival

One month from today renowned indigenous performer Mitch Tambo will open the Ride the Soundwave music festival at Town Beach, Port Macquarie in a spectacular performance alongside local elder Uncle Bill, Stevie Donovan on didgeridoo, Birpai dancers and a lightshow of artwork by local indigenous artist Jamie Donovan.

The all ages, dog friendly Ride the Soundwave (RTSW) music festival will feature some of the biggest names in Australian indie, folk and rock with Boy & Bear, The Waifs, Busby Marou, Mitch Tambo and Tullara all hitting the beachside stage on Saturday April 29 in Port Macquarie.

The RTSW festival will raise much needed funds for the Make a Difference (MAD) charity who support the homeless and disadvantaged on the Mid North Coast.

Set on one of the most picturesque festival locations on the East Coast, tickets to the fundraising Ride the Soundwave event are just $90 and are available at https://www.ticketebo.com.au/ridethesoundwave

The music festival sits alongside the iconic Ride the Wave festival which includes surf and skate competitions, markets, food and beverage vendors, a family fun zone and other activities.  The weekend is action packed with something for everyone including the 3-day RTW Junior Surf Pro and epic Skate Competition.

“We still have tickets to the Ride the Soundwave music festival available and every cent raised will go direct to MAD to help feed and support local homeless and disadvantaged.  The cost of living is really hitting hard, and we have more families than we’ve ever had teetering on the brink of homelessness – and for some it’s the meals that MAD provide that are the difference between having to choose between housing and feeding their kids.  The face of homelessness has really changed, and there’s a growing number of families in the Hastings who desperately need our help,” said Erin Denham, Director M.A.D & RTW Event Coordinator.

In addition to the performance element of his involvement in Ride the Soundwave music festival, Mitch Tambo will also conduct workshops with local youth that will give participants an immersive, hands on experience.  Aimed at 150 High School students with a keen interest in music will be selected from various local schools to attend the Mitch Tambo song writing workshop.

Artist Jamie Donovan is also creating artwork for the event volunteer shirts while Tristram Morris, a proud local Indigenous man from Strong Spirit Aboriginal Services, will offer a cultural workshop with wife Jess, providing an insight in cultural activities, cultural tools & weapons.

The music festival venue is also located alongside Port Macquarie’s largest caravan park (NRMA Breakwall Holiday Park) allowing visitors to stay on-site and walk to the festival, beach and skate park to enjoy everything that Ride the Wave has to offer.  Some of Port Macquarie’s best known holiday accommodation is also located within easy walking distance to the venue – with free parking also available for locals.

The ‘Barrel Room Bar’ will run inside the ticketed Ride the Soundwave music precinct – a chill out zone to enjoy a beverage while taking in all the action on stage.
