The Bucket-list Basic
Alison chalks up her most ‘organised road trip’ as a sign of the times
Are you planning a trip? In the pre-pandemic days we used to plan the start date and the return date. We would have an idea of where we wanted to stay and took a bit of a ‘take it or leave it’ attitude.
If we really were focussed on ticking off a bucket-list item we would pre-book if we had to, but would also be prepared to hang around a bit longer if we needed to.
As I write this article, I am about 10 days off leaving for another trip. But this one is different. We are travelling with family and there are things that have to be experienced.
The only way we can be sure of experiencing them, when we want to, is to prebook. I don’t think Peter and I have ever been on a more organised road trip in Australia than the one coming up.
We have made the bookings to be sure we can do things because a lot of places are still running on limited numbers in a venue at any one time. It’s not as easy as it used to be, but if you want to do things, you go with the current system.
As one of the things that I want to do is the wing walk at the Qantas Museum in Longreach, there was no hesitation about booking that. I wasn’t going to miss the chance.
Maybe our complete freewheeling days are a little restricted, but I am going to get to do things that I have missed out on before because we didn’t book.
