City Lights Caravan Park
Tamworth isn’t just for the music fans, it’s for all country lovers at heart
Tamworth’s reputation as a generous host to the famous Tamworth Country Music Festival is no secret. Indeed, with the Golden Guitar Museum and the Country Music ‘The Gallery of Stars’ wax museum it draws melomaniacs near and far year round.
Did you know it is home to Tamworth Distillery? Or there’s a free Marsupial Park, a stunning tribute to SIr Donald Bradman at the Collectors Museum and rich indigenous history. No one-trick pony, Tamworth’s well worth more time on your dance card.
A Music Icon
Swing by the Big Golden Guitar for the iconic Country Music Wax Museum, with Slim Dusty tributed in the Gallery of Stars. Then, spot Brian May’s travelling guitar
from 45 signed guitars at the National Guitar Museum. If you love a frock, revel in the glamour at Australian Country Music Hall of Fame or immerse yourself in an interactive exhibit as your Walk a Country Mile.
Enjoy the outdoors
Love animals? Meet rescues cared for by volunteers at the Marsupial Park. Great for picnicking, there’s BBQs here and Adventure playgrounds linked to botanical gardens via the Kamilaroi Walking Track that also leads to the Flagstaff Mountain Lookout. For a local Indigenous experience, catch one of many Len Waters Tours offering storytelling at sacred sites and starry night sky interpretations.
City Lights Caravan Park
On 14-acres south of the city, near the Equine and Livestock Centre, is the charming country oasis City Lights Caravan Park. Here, share tales with fellow travellers as you cook up a storm in the camp kitchen, recline by the pool, or throw a coin on the table and chase the eight ball.
It’s classic camping with plenty of open space, large camping sites (including drive through sites), rural views and fire pits available for hire.
