Garden To Plate At The Royal Mail Hotel

Angie heads off to Dunkeld and picks some fresh produce from the kitchen garden with Chef David Sutherland from the prestigious Royal Mail Hotel.

Most of the produce used by the chefs at the Royal Mail Hotel is picked from this garden. Not only being positive for the environment, David believes that by using their own produce the food tastes better. They also make use of as much of the plant as possible, including stems and leaves whenever possible.

The plants grown there include:

  • Heirloom vegetables
  • Herbs
  • Edible Flowers
  • Fruit and nuts

these are generally not available from suppliers. Most produce is grown from seeds and they utilise “igloos” to extend the longevity of the growing season.
