Artistic Expression at the Ballarat Art Gallery
Angie and Steve visit the Ballarat Art Gallery, which holds some incredible pieces of art. If the art doesn’t impress you then the spectacular architecture of the building itself surely will. Built in 1884 the gallery is one of the largest and oldest regional galleries in the country.
One particular portrait caught Steve and Angie’s eye whilst exploring the gallery. “The Masquerader” was a piece painted by Hilda Rix Nicholas.
Angie and Steve had a go at replicating it, in a painting class at the Ballarat Art Gallery, led by Alison Parkinson.
While they got close they might have missed a few slight details to the painting!
