Top Tourist Parks elects new Chairman
Top Tourist Parks of Australia has appointed Richard Emerson and David McIvor to lead it over the next 12 months, due to the unfortunate and sudden passing of former Chairman Richard Davis OAM.
The two men will share the role of Chairman until elections are held at the next Top Tourist Parks Annual General Meeting in October 2016.
David said Richard love the tourism industry and in particular Top Parks, they will honour Richard’s legacy by continuing to ensure stability and continuity for their members and rolling out the vision Richard helped shape.
David started working in the industry 17 years ago, running the El Dorado Top Tourist Park in Victoria, Geelong’s only pet friendly park, in Victoria with his wife, Aileen. Their son, Michael, has joined the family business which has expanded to include the Broken Hill Tourist Park and a motel in Broken Hill.
Both Richard and Mr David said consolidating the new Top Parks brand, further strengthening the Top Parks member culture and working with the management team were priorities.
Top tourist parks has changed its structure from a contract administrator and outsourcing key responsibilities to hiring its own staff and investing in their professional development.
Richard Davis had just finished driving a section at the Targa High Country car rally in Victoria on Friday last week when he suffered a heart attack.
Just last month he sold the Adelaide Caravan Park in Hackney, to the Aspen Group who oversaw the rebranding of the consumer brand of Top Tourist Parks to Top Parks.
Together with his wife Kathryn, Richard purchased the South West Rocks Tourist Park 15 years ago and joined Top Tourist Parks’ board in 2012.
