12 month relay to promote caravan and camping lifestyle

Dometic has partnered with Caravan Industry Association of Australia and vehicle sponsor Winnebago Australia to promote the caravan and camping lifestyle through the popular Dometic Follow the Sun Relay for an entire year.

The motorhome officially began the journey departing from the Queensland Caravan Camping and Touring Supershow in Brisbane on Saturday, June 9 and will return to the same venue one year later.

“We are really excited to be partnering with Caravan Industry Association of Australia for the Follow the Sun Relay,” said Justine Schuller, Head of Marketing Dometic.

“Our mission is to make Mobile Living Easy and the Follow the Sun Relay will allow more people to do exactly that.”

“We are very focused on supporting campaigns that will assist in the growth of our industry and the Caravan Industry Association of Australia have done an exceptional job in preparing a new format for Follow the Sun.”

Vehicle sponsor Winnebago Australia are also onboard and have supplied a fantastic motorhome to help participants make the most of the experience.

“Winnebago Australia are excited to be the promotional travel partner, taking people around our great country in style,” said Luke Trouchet, CEO Winnebago Australia.

“Our Byron motorhome can drive and sleep up to 6 people, so a wide range of travelers are encouraged to apply to experience the luxury and comfort of motorhoming.”

“Whether it’s a trip from Darwin to Alice with your mates, or a family excursion up the East Coast, this partnership will allow us to show Aussies’ unforgettable roadtrip experiences.”

The ‘Follow the Sun Relay’ initiative will ensure that everyday Australians will get to adventure and explore this great country, showcasing via a peer to peer marketing strategy that the caravan and camping lifestyle is a holiday that cannot be matched for memories its creates plus the physical and spiritual benefits in a world that continues to get busier.

Throughout the year, mates, families, mums and dads, retirees, singles and anyone else who cares to share their adventure will be given an opportunity to participate. Over the next 12 months, we’ll take a visual adventure via our explorers’ eyes, as they reveal why they love the touring lifestyle, show us the places visited and show us the characters they met and the friends made.

Caravan Industry Association of Australia will distribute these stories via its large consumer following, as will media partners What’s Up Downunder and throughout the year a number of exciting ambassadors will also join the trip!

Cookbook author and motivational speaker Annette Sym is also onboard, undertaking the first leg of the relay travelling from Brisbane to Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast.

Annette is the bestselling author of the SYMPLY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE cookbook series 1-7 and has sold over 4 million copies to date. She is also an award-winning business woman and international motivational speaker.

Throughout Annette’s journey on the road she is looking forward to driving around the country and showing people ideas for eating healthy on the road.

“My husband Bill and I have been married for 45 years and early in our marriage we actually had a VW Campervan and travelled Europe for three years, so this is a bit like going back to the good old days but doing it in a bit more in style!”

“We are in that age category where we are looking at slowing down with work in the next couple of years and one of our goals is to travel Australia, so I think it’ll be great for us to have this time together on the road.”

“The trip will combine meeting people, sharing my tips and cooking for people, so it’s all the things I love.”
